One-Life Stand

How you doin’ cowboy? Won’t you ask a lady to dance?
I was sittin’ in a bar just drinking my beer; not looking for romance
Her big brown eyes just smiled at me as she led me by the hand
When I woke up beside her, she was my first one night stand
(I woke up beside her, she was my first one night stand)
One night turned into many, like a date that never ends
We started out first-night lovers and became for ever friends
Walking down the aisle, dressed all in white, her daddy held her hand
She took her vow, 'til death do us part, I’d be her only man
(To have and to hold, 'til death do us part, I’d be her only man)
Many years had come and gone and I never thought to stray
With so many pretty girls in the world, I stayed with her every day
Our babies grew up and their babies have moved out across the land
When I looked back on our wonder years, she was my one-wife stand
Looking back on our wonder years, she was my one-wife stand
(Interlude)
Her big brown eyes are closed now and we all said good-bye today
I’ll join her again when my time comes and that won’t be far away
I’ll miss her every second but Lord I’m still a lucky man
From the night we met to the day she died, she was my one-life stand.
(… … … … she was my one life-stand.)
